Today is International Day of Older Persons!
Did you know the 2019 Public Health Guidelines for those 65+ recommend that individuals strength train at least 2 days a week?
Research shows we lose approximately 7-10% of our muscle mass per decade from the age of 30, making simple tasks like getting out of a chair increasingly difficult in later years.
HUR is a world leading expert in active ageing which helps to provide the right solutions bespoke to individual needs. Through close to zero resistance our HUR equipment enables those of all abilities to strength train.
2020-2030 sees the UN’s “Decade of Healthy Ageing” however it is now more important than ever that we focus on the health of the elderly. Those older persons are currently at the highest risk during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ensuring the elderly have basic access to food, hand washing and face coverings is key.
The UK Media has reported lots about Care Home’s being left behind, however it is not just the COVID-19 risk but the knock on effect. As our elderly population patiently shield themselves from the virus, many are less active, moving less and losing muscle mass at a faster rate. Unfortunately this leads to increased weakness and an increase in falls, which as we know can be devastating.
Lets work together to beat this pandemic and help protect our elderly!
